Dress Code

PURPOSE

For learners to look neat and presentable at all times. The school takes wearing the school uniform very seriously, as each boy is a direct representation of St Declan’s when they wear the crest. DISCIPLINE FOR INCORRECT UNIFORM OR HAIR

Incorrect uniform or hair may be pointed out by any staff member and register teachers are more specifically tasked with making sure to check uniform on a regular basis. If a learner’s hair is incorrect, he will be given a warning and be allowed until the following Monday to rectify the problem. If a learner is in violation of the dress code policy, the consequences are as follows:

• Learners will receive a demerit from the relevant teacher. If the problem persists then a demerit will be issued every day until the problem has been rectified.

• High School learners will be asked to remove their blazer and tie until their uniform/ hair is corrected if the problem persists for 5 days.

• No boy will participate in extramural matches/ events until uniform/ hair is corrected. The teacher overseeing the extramural will implement this ruling.

If a learner comes to school with the incorrect uniform/ hair and was unable to correct it for good reason, then a letter must be written, signed and dated by a parent/ guardian. The learner will still not be allowed to wear their blazer and tie or cap until the issue is corrected. The letter must be kept on the learner at all times during the day. The letter will only be acceptable if the parent/ guardian had a good reason for not rectifying the problem.
